The happy result of Algoma and Northern Ontario's proximity to Lake Superior, for winter sports enthusiasts, is an abundance of snow! The relatively warm water temperatures of the big lake in fall and early winter mingle with the cold temperatures of the air that start to occur as early as late October. Generally speaking, the ancient hills of Algoma are completely transformed by a blanket of snow by the beginning of December. The region is ready to accommodate the legions of
skiing, snow-boarding and
cross country skiing enthusiasts.
