TOWAB TRAIL

Hike to Burnt Rock Pool and relax on the sun-warmed rocks or continue along the trail for an overnight trip to Agawa Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in the park. The trail follows the gently rolling topography of the Agawa River Valley. However, it makes several unavoidable steep ascents and descents around cliff areas. At the turn of the century, visitors were often guided into the interior by Towabanasay, an Ojibwa guide. Towab (as he was called by the visitors) held the Ojibwa hunting rights to a1300 square kilometre area which included the Agawa River. Long before you reach Agawa Falls you will hear it's thundering roar as it cascades 25 metres over a rocky ledge. Try your luck fishing for brook and rainbow trout in the pool below the falls.
