AGAWA ROCK PICTOGRAPHS TRAIL
The trail to the site of the Pictographs (rock paintings) passes through some interesting geological features: rock chasms, broken boulders, and sheer cliffs. This is a sacred site where generations of Ojibwa came to record their dreams and spirits in red ochre. Today visitors must walk out on a ledge to view the Pictographs. The pictographs can only be viewed when the lake is calm. Caution is advised when venturing onto this rock ledge due to it's slope and the unpredictable nature of Lake Superior and it's wave action.
