Lake Whitefish inhabit large rivers and lakes and is one of the most valuable commercial freshwater fish of North America. Commercial landings have declined, especially in the Great Lakes, due to the deterioration of habitat and the depletion of stocks. In some areas it is sought after as a sport fish but it is primarily regarded as a superlative table delicacy
