CISCO
A couple of dead fish
In some areas Cisco is known and marketed as Lake Herring and it's range is throughout the Great Lakes, although it may also enter large rivers. It is an important fish ecologically since it is a prey species for salmons and it is also a good sport fish. Millions of pounds of Cisco are harvested annually for food and it is excellent prepared fresh or smoked.
