The Timber Wolf
The black version of the Timber Wolf is more commonly found in dense forests acting as pack animals, with a sophisticated social system of co-operation in order to make it possible for more animals to survive. A wolf pack generally occupies a large territory, so the chances of actually observing a pack in the wild is unlikely. The Timber Wolf howl, however, can be heard around Lake Superior and throughout Algoma and it has come to symbolize the spirit of the North. The Timber Wolf usually hunts White-tailed Deer, Caribou and Moose but also eats rabbits, mice, nesting birds and carrion.
