The Raccoon

The Raccoon. Raccoon tracks.
The Raccoon is instantly recognized for it's black bandit mask and ringed tail. The bandit mask seems appropriate since the Raccoon is known for looting people's gardens, cabins, campsites and garbage cans. They are most often found in woodlands, near streams, lakes and ponds. It, like the skunk, is a prolific omnivore eating practically whatever it can get it's "hands" on. Like bears, Raccoons consume large amounts of food before the winter months in order to build up a fat reserve, but unlike bears, they are not "hibernators" so they must constantly be foraging for their next meal. The Raccoon is perhaps one the most frequently encountered mammals of the wild, but look fast, or the Raccoon will disappear before you know it.
