The Coyote

The Coyote. Coyote tracks.
Coyote populations over the last two centuries have been increasing in Ontario, largely due to changes in the region that generally favour them over wolves. Coyotes are most common in open forests and grasslands, while wolves prefer dense forests. The increase in human habitation therefore has been beneficial to coyotes and it can be said that virtually all rural areas have healthy populations. The success of the coyote can also be attributed to their extremely varied diet, high birth rate and adaptible living requirements.
